Meeting Time...

Here are pictures of the girls playing meeting...
First they sing number 82 or 87.
Zara speaks...
Kanya speaks...
Zara takes her baby out because it's crying so Kanya speaks again.
To finish it they sing number 'two six'

And the whole things takes about as long as it takes to read this.

Soon to be BLISS...

Today we leave for Cold Lake and when we return we shall be childless! Can I say that I pretty excited. My dear Mother-in-law is taking my girls for 4 days. They will return Thursday evening. As the time is nearing I'm getting a little nervous...I mean Kanya is only 13 months but she isn't that attached to me so I think she'll be fine...if fact when she gets hurt she would rather go to my mom and she cried Wednesday night when I had to take her from Darren's arms so really she should be good! Here are some things I'd like to do while I have all the time in the world.
-paint the railings
-go for a massage
-go out for supper with Garrett
-get some shopping done
-paint the last couple walls that need touch-ups
-sew sew sew
-SLEEP IN
We shall see how it goes.

Here is a recent picture of the Pearman kiddos...

Zara's Funnies

Here are some of the things that Zara has said lately...

-I was trying to get her to put on a little sweater dress to go to supper last night and she told me 'My belly is too fat to wear that dress'
-While driving a while ago she informed me that 'My bum is too big for this carseat I need to get another one'
Apparently we are starting with the girls issues already...

-She was reading Aunty Shelby a Clifford book and this is how it went...'that and that and that and all the puppies and Hifford (Clifford) and then (turn the page) that and that and ALL the houses and that and Hifford and then (turn the page) etc etc. (no real plot at all)
-I tried to get her to read the 'Hifford' book to Garrett and she told me 'When I am bad then I will read the Hifford book to Dad'

-When she gets to the end of the ABC song she sings 'Now I know my acbdefghi...' and starts singing the song all over again...so it becomes that annoying song that NEVER ends

-The other morning she came to me and told me that her teeth were sore so she had put Kanya's bum cream in her mouth to help the sore teeth I guess.

Back in order

Our carpet and bathroom flooring has been installed and I love it. I'm not sure why we waited so long here are a few pictures...
The family room

The main bathroom

Our bedroom

And a before and after of the stairs...now we just have to finish painting the railing.

Zara has been dressing herself every morning lately and then changing outfits 30 times a day...here are a few of her creations.

And poor Kanya-belle hasn't been feeling well these days...she has a bit of a cold that hopefully is clearing up now. Here she is...

And that has been this week in a nutshell...

More randomness but with pictures this time...

Last weekend it was Islay's 3rd birthday so we celebrated with a Cat in the Hat cake and fun decor. This is the gift I made for her...

A skirt made from jeans and a memory game. I have other pictures of gifts I've made on another camera card but my dear daughter (the older one not even the baby) chewed it and now I can't get the pictures off the card.
Here is the birthday girl...

And her guests...

On Sunday I tried to get a picture of my girls mainly because it's the only day that I get to dress Zara and they actually look nice. Here is the best shot...

Kanya helping Dad play the piano...

Zara just about to fall back on the chair.

Zara is a such a good little mother lately...she goes everywhere with her baby. Her baby can be a number of things...sometimes its a puppy or Winnie-the-Pooh or sometimes it is just pretend and is air. Yesterday it was her pillow. She even put a diaper on it and did a mighty fine job too.

And lastly...half of our carpet is getting put in tomorrow and the rest on Monday so its a week earlier than we were expecting so we have been CRAZY busy painting and fixing all the things we have been putting off for 2 years. Here are some of the painting we've been doing...
Our bedroom. Huge change from brown but I think I like a bit of brightness.

The wall in the kitchen.

The main bathroom and laundry.

Hopefully I'll get pictures up when the carpet and flooring is in and everything is put back together.

Randomness...

I had to try a few different passwords to get on here tonight...yes it's been that long. I don't even know what to write about but I was out tonight with a few ladies and we were talking about our kids of course. Seems since I've become a mother that is all I have to talk about. But it got me thinking about a few things that have been happening around here lately. And so here I go talking about my kids.

Zara has been playing meeting A LOT...its pretty much all we do when we are home. We sing 'Call me the Jesus' which is hymn #1 and then we go right to speaking...she usually speaks about whichever book she grabbed to be her bible and about going shopping and going to Islay's house. She spends most of the time in the bathroom with her baby because it is usually 'talking and talking'. Meeting promptly ends when she says its over and we shake hands and have a good old chat....usually about her baby.

Kanya had her first birthday this month and is still a pretty mellow little girl. Her new thing to do is shake her head 'no' when we try to feed her and then giggles. A funny joke apparently.

I had a embarrassing moment happen to me a couple days ago while we were in the checkout line at Wal-Mart. Zara had wondered off to the pop cooler and was opening the door and grabbing all the pop. I told her a couple times to come back to the cart because we were next in line. Of course she didn't listen so I was frustrated and marched over there and as I'm walking over she starts crying and yelling "No Mom, don't give me a spanking. I don't want a spanking" and continued on in this matter with a look of terror in her eyes. And did I mention she was yelling this? It felt like everyone around me was staring and wondering if they should be reporting me. I just pretended that I didn't know what she was talking about and immediately left the store.

A little while ago I had put Zara down for her nap and told her that she HAD to stay in bed or she would be in trouble. I was downstairs and heard her shouting for me. I just ignored her because she usually just comes out of bed if something is wrong but she continued on and was getting a little more frantic so I was pretty mad and ran upstairs to get her to stop yelling and when I get into her room she says to me...still yelling might I add "MOM, THERE'S POO COMING OUT MY BOTTOM". Oh was my response and instantly became so proud of her for telling me she had to go to the washroom that I didn't even get mad about all the yelling and carrying on. Its amazing how life changes for you when you become a Mom.

On a different note...not even child related. We are getting new carpet..YAY!! Good-bye old dusty rose carpet. You will be gone and hopefully forgotten. It was the first thing we were going to change when we moved into this house but 2 years later we still have it, stained and all. I look forward to day when I can smell that wonderful new carpet smell.

Last Minute Plans...

Last week was the best/craziest week ever. Everything was going on as normal. Shelby came over on Tuesday to stay with us a couple of nights. Wednesday we were just hanging out outside enjoying the sun. Zara was swimming in the little pool and Kanya was sound asleep in her bed when I get a phone call from Garrett. It was about 11:00am and he says to me 'What do you think about going up to Mellowdale for convention instead of Didsbury?' Ha was my reply. That would be insane. After we hung up I got thinking, why not? He had the time off, I kinda had all our clothes organized and we weren't doing anything else. So it was decided we would go to Mellowdale. At 2:40pm we were out the door. Good thing Shelby was there or I would have never been able to do it. The vehicle was PACKED. I don't think another thing would have fit.

I think it was one the best decisions I have ever made. I didn't have time to get all stressed out about all that could go wrong and how everything was going to go. I had to deal with things as they happened, which is so such easier then stressing about it before.

We stayed in a tent. It went so well I'm scared to ever try it again because it surely can't go that well twice. The girls slept all night. Went to bed really well and it was big enough that we had all our beds in there and a chair and there was still room enough to walk around. I would actually do it again.

And of course convention was the best ever.

Here are a couple pictures of how the girls were sleeping tonight when I went and checked on them. Little sleeping beauties...

I'm still alive...

I'm having trouble being consistent with this blog thing. It is not that life has slowed down and being boring here. The opposite in fact. The terrible 2's has come in FULL force. Before Zara turned 2 I thought I had been through all I could go through with her and her busyness...SURPRISE...its a whole new ball game. Or something. She has frequent tantrums, is VERY stubborn and the attitude is extraordinary. When we are out in public I just pretend I`m the babysitter and then it is perfectly understandable that I`m standing there not having a clue how to react to this CRAZY child. It's these frazzled moments where I'm not sure whether to cry, laugh or rip my hair out when she comes over and plants a BIG kiss on my cheek and tells me she loves me...and then it is all better again. Here is what she has been up to lately. Sorry some are sideways.

Diaper rash cream....not so good as a lotion.

These ones are the ones that amaze me the most. Falling asleep just randomly. This is the ONLY 2 times she has done this without being sick.

Even managed to get some `rings` on her fingers.

We've also reached the stage where she likes to pick out what she is wearing. This was the outfit the other morning. The shirt on backwards with both legs in one leg of the PJ bottoms. She maybe thought this matched because they both had polka dots on them.

That is the Zara update. Now Kanya...the poor girl is going to live in her big sisters shadow her whole life I think. She is so content and happy just to watch Zara that she doesn`t get into any trouble. She has 2 teeth coming in on the bottom and is rolling like CRAZY...and that's about it. Are all second children this easy?
Here is a picture of Kanya modeling a skirt I made for them for convention...with a sweater that doesn`t match and no shirt under but it better than being completely topless.

Here's to...

The may long weekend. This is what we did.
-replace 3 sections of fence
-washed all the windows inside and out
-and the window sills...they are SPOTLESS
-went to the Zoo
-and went on a bike ride
Not bad. And the absolute best part is that I didn't have to cook one meal. That pretty much tops it. I get to enjoy it a little longer...we go out for supper tonight with the whole family for Lane's grad supper. Yes Lane is graduating. Crazy.

Drinking Coffee

I've put the girls to bed and I'm sitting enjoying a good cup of coffee. I'm more of a social coffee drinker...pretty much only have it if I'm with someone else. (Unless roll up the rim is on) Tonight, however, I decided that I should have a cup. I'm so enjoying it. Its different when you drink it by yourself. You get to savor it. I think I've just discovered something really good here. The coffee pot just might stay on the counter and not get put away as it usual does.

Here are this mornings pictures. The girls squished in the dolly's playpen. Zara was telling Kanya secrets but it looks like she is clawing her face off.

Handmade Gifts Part 1

I've decided to try to make all my gifts for this year....from May to May. I'm not sure how far I'll get because there are A LOT. I have made 3 birthday gifts and my Mom's mothers day gift so far and there are 26 more to go. Luckily I only have a couple more to make and then there isn't another one until September so hopefully I'll get some made up this summer.

Here are the May birthdays...Garrett, Mandy and Mom. I didn't make anything for Garrett but got him a shed package that he had to make so maybe that'll count.

I was a little late on Tara's gift but here it is. A apron and cookie mix in a jar.

Mandy got the same thing just a little different material.

And here is Moms gifts. It was for Mother's Day and her birthday.

Unfortunatly for these ladies they were the first. Hopefully but next year they'll be better made and I'll have more ideas on what to make so it won't all be aprons. They can get really boring REALLY fast.

Another Zara Episode

WARNING: If you have a very weak stomach or can't handle poo stories then please go elsewhere.

Let me take you on a little journey of my first half hour of my morning. I woke up at 9:20 to Zara rattling her door knob. I looked at the time and smiled to myself thinking how lovely it was that I was able to sleep in. It's a luxury that I don't often get so enjoying the moment I got out of bed and got dressed while listening to Zara knocking on her door saying 'come in mommy, come in'. I answered her invitation and went into her room. First I seen that she was sitting on the floor taking off some tags on a new shirt, a couple seconds later I see that she has taken most things out of her dresser. Nothing new there....and then I smelled it. It was defiantly a dirty diaper. I look at Zara and notice that she IS NOT wearing a diaper. There it is sitting on her bed but it wasn't dirty and that was the exact moment I looked down at the pile of clothes and my sweet precious daughter had gone to the bathroom all over her clean clothes. It wouldn't have been so bad if she hadn't stepped in it, sat in it and smeared it all over her room. DISGUSTING. I think I just stood there shocked for about 5 minutes not knowing what to do first. I snapped out of it when Zara started playing with her toes and telling me that they were stinky. When am I ever going to learn that sleeping in has consequences.

Talking on the Phone

Here are today's videos. Apparently Zara is missing Islay...she has been calling her all day today. She is planning on going for burgers (sounds like booger but its burger) and chicken. McDonald's it'll be I guess when Islay gets back. Then she made a phone call to Uncle Jason and pretty much just said HI...looks like we need to work on the conversation part a little more.

P.S. This has been a record month for posts...seems like I have more time on my hands then normal. Finally getting the hang of having 2 munchkins I guess...only took 6 months!

Wednesday

Here I am sitting on the computer while Garrett is at meeting. It seems lately that we are never there together anymore. Kanya has pretty much been sick for 3 months now...she is finally getting better and now Zara has pink eye in both eyes. I look forward to a week without doctors appointments. Anyways here are a couple videos of today. You'll see that even though Zara is not feeling to great she still has a great sense of style. She is wearing my materity swimsuit top. You'll also see Kanya getting the hang of the jolly jumper. It was hard to get a video of her without Zara standing right in front of the camera. She already likes to be the center of attention.

Dreaming...

My dear sister-in-law/cousin, Molly, has left town this week with her husband and without Islay. They are down in Houston...Darren has a course or something. And I am SSOOO jealous. Seriously a week without kids how amazing would that be. Don't get me wrong I love my children but a break would be wonderful. So this afternoon while they are BOTH in bed (fingers crossed that this keeps up) I've been pretending that I`m in her shoes and I`ve been shopping. Its been great. I have my cart FULL at Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters, Shabby Apple, Crazy8, Janie and Jack, and Fat Face. I might need to win the lottery or something before I can check out but one can dream. I`ve also sat down with my lunch...yes I`m eating in peace and quite and I have my feet up on a footstool. I could really get used to this but today will probably be the only day they sleep at the same time so I`m gonna enjoy this while I can.

Another post about the morning.

Not all mornings are bad around here. I feel like all I do is talk about Zara and how she gets into everything. Last night we put one of those child proof door handle things on the inside of Zaras room so she couldn't open the door and get out this morning. I was feeling kinda bad about that but when she was up and 5:50 this morning and after I seen the mess she made in her room for the couple hours she was up before me and the guilt melted away.

She is going to be moving into the guest room tonight because Kanya is moving into the crib. I just can't imagine what Zara will do to her if they are in the same room right now. It's about time Kanya leaves our room. I was thinking that a 6 1/2 month old baby should probably not be sleeping in a little bassinet anymore. Soon she'll be sitting up in the thing. The guest room is pretty much Zara proof so I'm going to put a little box of toys in there that she can play with when she wakes up. Maybe that will be better. These are pictures of yesterday morning when Zara came to wake me up because she had a 'stinky bum'.

The hat is made of a tank top of Kanya's and the box that her socks go into. She's quite the little fashionista.
Then she had to wake Kanya up of course.

But she didn't seem to mind.
