White Wedding

This post has nothing to do with weddings or Billy Idol. Just white and that is the only name that came to mind.
So I painted the family room this week. I've been LOVING white lately. So much you can do with it and it's just so clean and refreshing. I'd love to do my whole house. Garrett wasn't sold on the idea so I started with the family room. He likes it! So eventually we'll work on the whole house. Maybe. It's a lot of work.
Here are some photos....
Kinda want to change the fireplace now but one thing at a time!

Right portion of the mantle. Can't wait to redo it now!

Left portion. Love white on white.

I've been looking to thrift a globe for a while now. Zara seen this one the other day. Training them up right. Good little thrifters.

Oh how barren does this look? Need new lighting and
 something for the walls.

This is the girls art table. Yes it is ALWAYS this messy.
Need to find a new place for it. Do not want writing on my white walls.

Here are a couple pictures of the girls fresh from the bath tonight.

Poor Kanya is sick. AGAIN. Her nose is so red from wiping it.

Classic Zara. Her cheeks are rosy because she wore leggings under her jeans all day and was SOO hot. Her forehead is red because she brushes it when she combs her hair. Ouch.
And lastly here is a little shop update. A couple of my favourite things I have listed right now.

Vintage Fisher Price Crib Toy

Felted Baby Parka.
Love the little penuins.

Burnt Orange Girls Lace Dress.
Such cute details.

Winter Wonderland....

So apparently June isn't coming back and it's time to move on! Yikes. Not even gonna comment on my terrible blogger syndrome.

Lately I've had the itch to do some changes in the house. Nothing huge just a little face lift. I thought I would maybe share my little changes on here. Heavy on the maybe. I don't have the greatest track record. I haven't started anything yet but hopefully by the weekend something will get done. I'm thinking of starting in the family room. It is the most 'lived' in room and needs a bit of a change. I change the display on my piano and mantel with the seasons so for now that is all your gonna get. Here is my winter mantel!

Pretty much just blues and browns

I got a bunch of old winter photos. I've had fun moving them all around.

The 'water-less' snowglobes are a Anthropologie knock off.
And that is why I haven't been canning....they turn into craft projects!

The tin cannisters are a one of my favourite treasures I've thrifted over the years!

All my little wooden, rustic ornaments. Mostly all from Chapters.

This guys is my favourite. His eyebrows just make my day!

And the piano....
A little boring.

Some of my milk glass vase collection.

This and  that on a doily my Great Grandma crochet'd!

A blurry picture of my garland.
My dear mother knit those wee little mittens, hat and sweater!

I've deleted all the pictures of the summer mantel but came across this one of the piano....

Another blurry shot. Had some vintage dresses hanging in my frame.
Handmade pinwheels. Vintage teacup.
Hopefully pictures of a change are to come....now I'm off to eat a banana lathered in Nutella! Yum!

June...Where Have You Gone?

It has been a busy last couple weeks around here. Garrett and Darren took a LAST minute trip to England. Had convention with Jason and saw some family and then came home. They were gone for a week.
Cousins at convention.

While they were gone we decided to go out to B.C. and enjoy a few days at the lake. It rained most of the time but we did manage to get one nice day we could enjoy the sand and pool.
Girls LOVING the pool. Wanted to go on their own.

Enjoying the sand and the FREEZING lake.

Zara got a little carried away in the water and got soaked.

Building sand castles.
I'm glad to have my husband back home and now that he is done working nights we're starting to get back into a normal routine and its GREAT. Can hardly believe June is almost gone and we'll soon be right in the middle of summer already.

Here are my vintage finds for this week. Some things have been added to the shop but others are still sitting on display as I am having a hard time just thinking of parting with them!

The tablecloth on the back is from Garrett's Grandma is England so I'll defiantly be keeping that. I found 6 Little Golden Books from the 50's that I was pretty excited about.
The suitecase was a good steal. Found a bunch of delicate little doilies that I put in it.
I was super excited to find all the old sewing things and of course I like teacups so I had to get this little one!

Making Forts and Other Things...

The Girls decided to make forts today. I was wondering when this day would come.
Zara did a little bird watching with her binoculars.
Kanya just sucked her fingers. This is what she does now. Took the soother away and she went straight to fingers.
Zara has been cracking me up with some things she comes out with lately.
-The other day I had a headache and I was telling her that she had to be good because I had a headache and couldn`t deal with bad girls. `oh we have to be good so you don`t get a heart attack on your headache?` Ummm....yes Zara you got it!
- While they play meeting Zara has been asking questions like Garry has been asking the kids on Sundays....I always get to be the kid answering...
`Do helicopters fly in the air or do they run into seagulls?`.... Run into seagulls? YES your right Mom!
`Do ponies live in princess castles or on rainbows?`....Either is right for this question.
`Do sheep live in bowls or pots?`....pots? NO, bowls? NO Mom they live on plates.
`Do Mothers hold babies or dads?`....this one was a no brainer! Babies
`What is the coziest a fort or a snowball?`...I wasn`t too sure this one. Went with fort and it was right.
`What is faster, a plane or a slide?`...Plane? Nope slides are WAY faster!
And on it went. I had to write them down as we went along...she thought I was being so good taking notes!!

Here are this weeks vintage finds that have been added to my shop!!
A great leather doctor bag, handknit little booties and matching bonnet, white shoes, 4 teacups, more doilies and a polka dot little dress.

Can't Stop

It is pretty clear I have a problem. First step is to admit it. I have a problem.

I love all things old, vintage and delicate. And I especially love finding them. It is a serious adrenaline rush finding that 'diamond in the rough'. Believe me sometimes its a lot of 'rough' before the diamond is found.

Everytime we go somewhere I am always looking for thrift stores. Kills me to go some place and not look at the goodies they may have.

I went to my favorite thrift store today. As I pulled into the parking lot my heart starts racing at all the possibilities. Of course I wasn't disappointed.

Here are the lovelies I found today. Can't wait for next week when I get to do it all over again.

Singing Happy Birthday

My family has officially ruined the 'happy birthday' song for me. Seriously I don't even know how to sing it properly anymore...we sing as loud as we can and off key now. It is super embarrassing when we go to someones birthday party that is unrelated because Zara just BELTS it out and is completely off key and LOUD. I cam across this video on my old camera. It is from Kel and Keaton's birthday in October but please enjoy the Olson singing....DREADFUL...

PS...the one you can hear the loudest is Reid!

The BIG Word

While we were in Mexico Grandpa Bryon was teaching the girls new words. I've finally got around to taking a video of the word they have both mastered. Zara adds a little something to the end!
