Grey or Gray?

I have grey hair. Lots of grey hair. You know when your in the shower and you grab your hair and some fall out... well I quite often have greys in with that hair that falls out. It doesn't really bother me to much. I feel that grey hair demands respect so I'm looking forward to being grey. People often mistake me for still being in high school so having a head of grey hair should clear that up which will take care of some awkward conversations. Anyways, I've discovered something that does bother me and that is when you find that you have grey in your eyebrows. Seriously I have a grey eyebrow hair. I'm not sure whether I should pluck it or not. Maybe more will just come in. I think I'm just gonna pretend it isn't there. Hopefully everyone else will too.

Aaahhh...

I took the girls and went to Edmonton for a couple nights with Mom, Shelby and Lane. Poor Lane had to endure the shopping and all us girls...but I had a lot of fun. It is always a little hectic shopping with Zara...she runs off everywhere and doesn't listen to swell so it is nice to be home too. After getting home and having supper I went to do some of the dreaded ironing and noticed it was really quiet so I went upstairs and this what I saw...

Seriously it is so quiet and I can actually have a few peaceful minutes. I could get used to this...

Wide Awake

So what does one do when they can't sleep at 4:23 in the morning? They think of all the things they have been putting off. For example, updating my blog. As I lay there thinking of the things I could blog about it become impossible to sleep until I get up and get it off my mind. I apologize in advance if it is hard to follow and doesn't make sense.

Zara has officially entered the terrible 2's. I told Molly not that long ago that I wasn't sure how the twos could get anymore terrible. She has been busy since the day she was able to move, she has gotten into everything there is to get into...my favorites have been Vaseline and those disclosing tablets you get from the dentist...she doesn't listen very well at all and she did I mention that she is busy? Molly replied by saying that maybe it would be tantrums. Its like Zara heard that and thought 'hhmmm, that could be fun'. It's been exhausting. I'm not talking about those little fits, its those huge ones that you see in the stores once in a while where the kid is hysterical and the mother isn't doing anything about it but seriously what can you do when you're out and the child WILL NOT be reasoned with? It is VERY embarrassing and I'm sorry to all those Moms that I've judged as not being good mothers as their child is screaming their head off. They say to cherish every moment because they growup so fast....these are definatly the moments I've been cherishing the most...it's been lovely.

I've been following some of those fashion blogs lately and I must say I'm very impressed. These people get up everyday, get dressed, do whatever it is they do and have time to take pictures and blog about their outfits and day. I am seriously starting to think they don't have sweat-pant-days. Is this even possible? But I thought I should start one of my girls seeing that they are such fashionistas. Here is a good one of Zara. This was taken on her actual birthday March 3.
'What class' is probably what you all are thinking right now. I like the ketchup stains down the front of the shirt and the belt...wow...it really ties it all together. She had to wear the belt that day for some reason. It is also a nice showcase of legs. Pants have been optional lately with the potty training. If you stop by unexpected someday, I can almost guarantee that she will have no bottoms on. The pose is good too...the open mouth and dazed look is really great. Someday I'll get a good one of Kanya too but the poor girl is lucky if she even gets dressed some days.

The other day I was babysitting Islay and here are a few if the funny things that happened that morning.
-They decided to play meeting. They get the chairs all lined up. Not side by side by front to back much like a train and Zara says her Grace and Islay sings 'Day by day thy Children'.
-Islay finds the phone and starts making her phone calls...'Hi Quinn. How's Pav? Okay. Talk to you later. Bye'...'Hi Monkey, are you sleeping. Okay. Bye'...'Hi Owl. Do you have any eggs for me? Okay. Talk to you later. Bye.'....'Hi Frog. Do you know number 86. okay. Bye'
-Zara telling Islay secrets. I got the tail end of this on the video so its not the greatest but it'll give you an idea of how it was.
Islay comes highly recommended by her Aunt. If your looking for a good time just give her a call and I can guarantee a few good laughs. Batteries not needed, just a snack once in a while.

And finally, Kanya. Poor Kanya. She has had a nasty little cough for the past month or so now. The doctor gave her this inhaler thing to help it and it did for a while and she was getting better but it came back this week and she has had the runny nose and watery eyes to go with it but I'm hoping that she is on the mend now. She has gone all night so far without a coughing attack. She has a new trick now. She plays with her tongue somehow and it makes this funny noise. I tried to get a video of it so hopefully you can hear it.

Now I can go to sleep and not be feeling guilty about putting this off. There is some serious sarcasm in here. Maybe I'm more sarcastic in the middle of the night

O Canada

The Olympics are offically over. I had my life on hold for 2 weeks as I was fully immersed in them. I loved seeing Alex Bilodeau and his relationship with his brother who has cerebral palsy. As everyone else in Canada, I loved the ice skating and seriously why are those 2 not a couple...see the way they look at each other?? I thought Jon Mongomery was AWESOME. Charles Hamelin and Marianne St-Gelais so cute. Joannie Rochette...so glad she carried the flag for closing ceremonies. Proving that hockey is Canada's sport...and I could go on and on.

But now my life can go on. The clothes can get washed, we can have proper meals on the table and I can get my house cleaned. My children will no longer be neglected. I can leave the house and enjoy the nice weather we are about to have this week and forget all about the winter olympics until 2014.

Frazzled Mothers

You know those cartoon pictures of the mothers pulling their hair out and their clothes are inside out and backwords and they have kids hanging off them. Well that is me this week. Let me tell you about monday at about 4:30 pm. Kanya, who is no longer able to be nursed, needed a bottle and NOW. She had gone about 4 and a half hours from her last feed so needless to say was very hungry. I got her a bottle and sat down with her to feed her when Zara decided that she had to go potty so I set Kanya down, prop up her bottle with a blanket and start to go get Zara when the bottle falls and she starts WAILING. I prop it up better with her holding it as well and go get Zara. She had peed herself already. LOVELY. I take off her clothes and get her all cleaned up when the bottle falls again. More WAILING. I go attend to Kanya and I tell Zara, who is butt naked, to run upstairs and get a pair of panties. She brings down a shirt. `NO, your underwear...they are right at eye level on TOP of your dresser.` So she goes back up and as she is coming down I hear `Potty, Mom, Potty` and followed by `Uh oh`. GREAT she has gone to the washroom coming down the stairs. I prop the bottle up again and go see what shes done. Number 2 all down the stairs. The bottle falls. Run to Kanya, fix the bottle and come back just in time to stop Zara from `ceaning-up` with a teatowel. I get the mess all cleaned up Zara in underwear and clothed, finally get back to Kanya and can hold her while she eats the last half oz of milk without interuption, when Garrett walks in the door asking how my day was. If looks could kill he`d definatly be dead.

Potty Training

Today is day 4 of potty training. What a seriously hard thing to do. I never thought that it would be this difficult and she is actually catching on pretty fast. So far today we haven't had any wet pants!! Tuesday we had 4 and yesterday we had 2...all of them before lunch so we're doing good today!! It's kinda funny when she does have an accident, all she does is look down and say 'oh all wet' and then continues with whatever she was doing...a little frustrating though for me. Maybe if she didn't like being wet she would take the initiative to go. Oh and most of the time it`s a fight to get her to go to the potty...she is not too keen on anything the interupts her playing. Lots of times I have to look at her and with my sternest of stern voices say 'Zara, sit down RIGHT NOW and go potty' and then she will. She never forgets about her 'cheat' either, which is a smartie or 2...and then she is off until we have to do it all again.

So to any other Mom's out there that are going through the same thing...GOOD LUCK. I know we need it here.

Videos

So I've been horrible at posting anything lately but here's a little update... Kanya is 3 and a half months now and is a really good baby...hardly hear her cry at all. She's only gets up once a night to be feed so that is really nice. She is smiling lots and I'm just waiting to hear her giggle...could be soon. She weighs 9'8 now so she's finally on the charts...barely but she on!!

Zara is talking my ear off. She is even starting to put sentences together. We're trying the potty training...she'll go when I put her on the potty but so far I haven't been to dedicated to it so we're not getting to far. She loves sitting on the counter when I'm cooking or working in the kitchen so I'm hoping that this means she'll like to help out in the kitchen when she gets older.

Here are a couple of videos...one is what Garrett has been teaching her and the other is when I was trying ti take some photos of the girls...no good photos though, I need Zoe to come take some!!
