O Canada

The Olympics are offically over. I had my life on hold for 2 weeks as I was fully immersed in them. I loved seeing Alex Bilodeau and his relationship with his brother who has cerebral palsy. As everyone else in Canada, I loved the ice skating and seriously why are those 2 not a couple...see the way they look at each other?? I thought Jon Mongomery was AWESOME. Charles Hamelin and Marianne St-Gelais so cute. Joannie Rochette...so glad she carried the flag for closing ceremonies. Proving that hockey is Canada's sport...and I could go on and on.

But now my life can go on. The clothes can get washed, we can have proper meals on the table and I can get my house cleaned. My children will no longer be neglected. I can leave the house and enjoy the nice weather we are about to have this week and forget all about the winter olympics until 2014.

Frazzled Mothers

You know those cartoon pictures of the mothers pulling their hair out and their clothes are inside out and backwords and they have kids hanging off them. Well that is me this week. Let me tell you about monday at about 4:30 pm. Kanya, who is no longer able to be nursed, needed a bottle and NOW. She had gone about 4 and a half hours from her last feed so needless to say was very hungry. I got her a bottle and sat down with her to feed her when Zara decided that she had to go potty so I set Kanya down, prop up her bottle with a blanket and start to go get Zara when the bottle falls and she starts WAILING. I prop it up better with her holding it as well and go get Zara. She had peed herself already. LOVELY. I take off her clothes and get her all cleaned up when the bottle falls again. More WAILING. I go attend to Kanya and I tell Zara, who is butt naked, to run upstairs and get a pair of panties. She brings down a shirt. `NO, your underwear...they are right at eye level on TOP of your dresser.` So she goes back up and as she is coming down I hear `Potty, Mom, Potty` and followed by `Uh oh`. GREAT she has gone to the washroom coming down the stairs. I prop the bottle up again and go see what shes done. Number 2 all down the stairs. The bottle falls. Run to Kanya, fix the bottle and come back just in time to stop Zara from `ceaning-up` with a teatowel. I get the mess all cleaned up Zara in underwear and clothed, finally get back to Kanya and can hold her while she eats the last half oz of milk without interuption, when Garrett walks in the door asking how my day was. If looks could kill he`d definatly be dead.

Potty Training

Today is day 4 of potty training. What a seriously hard thing to do. I never thought that it would be this difficult and she is actually catching on pretty fast. So far today we haven't had any wet pants!! Tuesday we had 4 and yesterday we had 2...all of them before lunch so we're doing good today!! It's kinda funny when she does have an accident, all she does is look down and say 'oh all wet' and then continues with whatever she was doing...a little frustrating though for me. Maybe if she didn't like being wet she would take the initiative to go. Oh and most of the time it`s a fight to get her to go to the potty...she is not too keen on anything the interupts her playing. Lots of times I have to look at her and with my sternest of stern voices say 'Zara, sit down RIGHT NOW and go potty' and then she will. She never forgets about her 'cheat' either, which is a smartie or 2...and then she is off until we have to do it all again.

So to any other Mom's out there that are going through the same thing...GOOD LUCK. I know we need it here.

Videos

So I've been horrible at posting anything lately but here's a little update... Kanya is 3 and a half months now and is a really good baby...hardly hear her cry at all. She's only gets up once a night to be feed so that is really nice. She is smiling lots and I'm just waiting to hear her giggle...could be soon. She weighs 9'8 now so she's finally on the charts...barely but she on!!

Zara is talking my ear off. She is even starting to put sentences together. We're trying the potty training...she'll go when I put her on the potty but so far I haven't been to dedicated to it so we're not getting to far. She loves sitting on the counter when I'm cooking or working in the kitchen so I'm hoping that this means she'll like to help out in the kitchen when she gets older.

Here are a couple of videos...one is what Garrett has been teaching her and the other is when I was trying ti take some photos of the girls...no good photos though, I need Zoe to come take some!!

Leg Wrestling

As everyone is well aware of...it is miserable outside! Freezing cold, snowing and very windy so there isn't a whole that can be done outdoors. To cure any boredom you may be experiencing all you need to do is get 2 toddlers together, their fathers and an idea to teach them to leg wrestle...very entertaining...

Pick-me-ups

I've discovered a couple things since being a mother of two...there are a couple things that instantly put me in a good mood.

First one being Starbucks of course. I find it outrageous to spend 5 bucks on a drink but once in a while I splurge and buy one and realize once again that it is totally worth it. It just puts me in a great mood as soon as that decaf white chocolate mocha WITH whip gets placed into my hands. I could have had one of those days where Kanya has decided to cluster feed every 2 hours and Zara has become totally needy and wants extra attention but as soon as I have a drink of that deliciousiness it's all forgotten and I'm good to start again.

The other good mood maker is listening to ANY song by The Beatles. I've been trying to think why this would have this affect on me and all I've come up with is that it reminds me of my childhhod and simplier days. Long before I was in school I used to work on cars with my Dad and often we would have to try out his stereo in whatever car we happened to be working on. Some of the music I remember listening to the most are Dolly Parton's 'rock' album Rainbow (a good listen for those that like Dolly), that good old spanish song La Bamba, Wake up Little Suzie by the Everly Brothers and 66 CFR on the AM dial which played oldies all the time which started my obession with listening to old music and it wasn't long when The Beatles became my favorite. I remember for my birthday in grade 6 the thing I wanted the most was a Beatles tape and when I got it I took it to school in my walkman (yes the days of walkmans) and tried to convince my friends that this was the GREATEST music but that was the era of Spice Girls and Backstreet Boys so they just thought I was out of my mind. And from there it went to The Beach Boys to Elvis to CCR to The Rolling Stones but always came back to The Beatles, and listening to their music is guaranteed to turn any mood I may be in into a great mood.

I was in a bit of a grumpy mood when I started writing this but it has turned around now into a good mood just thinking about drinking a Starbucks and listening to Abbey Road. Amazing. Now I can go and be civil again.

October

It's a lot busier than I thought it was going to be having two little ones. It seems like I can't go anywhere without my Mom...good thing she lives close or I wouldn't get out of the house. On friday I decided to go get Kanya weighed and we were gone for a total of 20 minutes but I'm pretty sure it took us 45 minutes to get ready...maybe I'll get quicker eventually. Oh and she weighed 5.14 so she is filling out!

This is Kanya a few days old with her sucky...

Zara deciding to lay beside 'Kanna'

Kanya vs. Cabbage Patch doll...cabbage patch doll still bigger.

Zara on halloween...went around the block and she loved it...went up to the houses and said 'tickateat' and once they put the candy in the bag it was 'letsgo'

All the cousins dressed up...

And that is just a few pictures of the last few weeks...
